i recently acquired a book called wreck this journal (brought to the world by keri smith, for a better description check it out here). the book is not joking. it's whole existence is to one day be completely destroyed. and it's amazing. wreck this journal is full of one-liner instructions that have you do some strange things, such as eating a page, and having the book accompany you in the shower (what you do with it then is not disclosed). some of which may seem ridiculous at first, but somewhere in between scribbling recklessly and licking pages after eating a fruit roll up, you start to think about the permanence of objects and ideals of perfection.
as the book warns from the start "you may begin to see creative destruction eveywhere. you may being to live more recklessly." and it's right.
above all else, it is a lot of fun. so if you see a discreet black book inviting you to wreck it on the cover the next time you are browsing shelves, i would most certainly recommend that you do.
hahahaha. pretty solid review. to add to my bookreads.
